These letter openers are made by Steve Hulett (yes, the little ol knife maker) They are made up of thin layers of hardwoods, dyed different colors and then laminated together using epoxies and resins, plus heat and pressure. They are VERY hard they are designed for knife handles and so the lend well to letter openers.
